건국대학교 문과대학 영어영문학과 캔디스 룬(Candace Lunn) 교수는 11월 2일부터 3일까지 KU 시네마에서 ‘I/She/You’를 주제로 여성영화제를 개최했다. 이번 영화제에서는 할리우드내의 성적 차별을 다룬 ‘This Changes Everything(2018)’ 등 여성문제를 다룬 총 6편의 영화가 상영됐다.

"It may be counterintuitive to admit that men are the inspiration for a women’s film festival, yet here we are, grappling with this conundrum. Throughout history in domestic and professional spheres, women have been molded into distortion, harassed into silence or erased into inefficacy by male-dominated power structures that pegged them as co-dependent, insignificant, voiceless. I/SHE/YOU attempts to polish this distorted lens by shining a light on women from various corners of the world who have marched, sang and lived themselves into visibility. “SHE” is not a strange other to be ostracized or judged, but a part of “YOU” and “I.” It is this festival’s belief that in order to narrow the empathy gap, we have to create a space for awareness that includes supportive men who see women in the world and empower them to be whatever they aim to be, even if it’s simply to be seen."
